This image is a composite of 200 photos taken with 30 second exposure each. The camera was mounted on a tripod pointing towards the pole star. It shows the movement of Earth around its axis as time goes by. It also shows the light pollution caused by many airplanes and satellites that can be seen crisscrossed over the startrails.

I love the contrast of the dramatically lit orange of the beaver-stripped tree trunk against the deep blue of water. Beaver activity at Hartman Park is endlessly fascinating. There is always something new to see.

Near the spot where I took this picture of the Ravine, I met three hopelessly lost elderly hikers. Once they got over my fearsome appearance with my face wrapped in a Moroccan wool shawl against the day’s cold, they were relieved to find that I had a map on my iPhone and could show them the way back to their car.Early Fall day Eight Mile River

The blooming of our native dogwoods [Cornus florida] mark spring for me. Peppered throughout old farms and Lyme’s preserves, dogwoods seem to be honored members of our community. This single last blossom, surrounded by the new leaves that will nourish the tree, serves as a reminder to celebrate their beauty.Twice the twilight
